Giving back

Design students now graduate into markets that don't exist yet. Reading change is the one skill that carries, and we'd love to give back. As a mother, founder Jess Tang holds the wellbeing of the future generation forever in her heart. That is why she started DUMPLING U.

We bring guest lecturers, practical workshops and curriculum advice into design schools, so what is taught keeps up with what is changing.

Guest lecturer link-up

Practitioners from our village come to your lecture theatre, in person or online, to talk about the work they are doing in Asia right now.

Practical workshops

Half-day or full-day sessions where students learn a method by using it, such as trend mapping or scenario building.

Curriculum advisory

We work with course leaders to shape modules, briefs and assessment around what the industry in Asia now expects.

Real briefs from real clients, mentors from the industry and studio crits, so students learn by doing the work.

Real world briefs

We bring live problems from brands and founders in our network into your course, scoped for a semester or a sprint.

Industry mentors link-up

We pair student teams with a working practitioner from our village for the length of a brief.

Studio crits

We join your studio mid-project and at the final review, and critique the work the way a client would.

MENTORSHIP

Students co-author our reports, sit on a youth council and stay close as alumni. We learn from them as much as they learn from us.

Report co-authorship

Students research and write alongside us on a DUMPLING report and are credited on the cover.

Youth council

A standing group of students meets us regularly to test our thinking and tell us what we are missing.

Dumpling u alum access

Graduates who have worked with us stay part of the village, with introductions and an early look at roles and briefs.
